Directly operated by an amimoto (the head of local fisher’s group ), Kanijiman is a seafood restaurant born out of the desire of Tsunatori Suisan to offer customers the authentic taste of crab. By serving crab caught on its own fishing vessel, the restaurant is able to offer dishes that are unmatched in terms of both price and quality. As it is located near the fishing grounds, you can enjoy fresh crab within as few as 12 hours of it being caught. The taste of the crab is so rich that there is no need to add any extra seasoning and even salt when boiled.
For fishers who risk their lives to fish, meals are their only pleasure while they are at sea . Therefore the role of those in charge of cooking is very important, and they are trained to be good cooks through practical experience. Our chef is an ex-fisher who was in charge of cooking. In addition to sashimi, tempura, and shabu-shabu (a famous Japanese hot pot dish), you can also enjoy rare delicacies such as chawan-mushi (steamed egg custard) made with fresh crab paste. We can respond to your preferred method of preparation.
Most restaurants offer side dishes and alcoholic beverages along with crab in order to make a profit. However, we are happy to accommodate requests to eat only crab. Because we can prepare more crab than you can eat, you can even enjoy an all-you-can-eat crab option! With a reservation about a week in advance we can accommodate any order.
The restaurant is equipped with a large tatami room that can accommodate up to 60 people. As there is a baby-care space, customers with small children can relax and enjoy the cuisine. Unusually for a crab restaurant, we also provide seats for pets and a pet menu, which uses locally-produced Oyama chicken. Its quality is so good that even the owners can't help but want to eat it! During the early-Ma y and year-end holiday seasons, the restaurant attracts many visitors from overseas, and in December, it holds a “Matsuba Crab” (a brand name for snow crab caught around Tottori Prefecture) fishing event using a fish pen. Many people enjoy the unique experience of being able to taste the crab they have caught themselves.
